Ate nuts for the first time

I have had a severe peanut allergy my entire life and my parents always told me that I couldn’t have any nuts. I did some allergy testing as a teenager where my parents told me I could have almonds, but no other nuts (or so I thought…)

I got allergy testing done for my first time as an adult recently to confirm my allergies since I accidentally had a hazelnut cookie (was mis-labeled and frosted as a different cookie, never would have ate it otherwise!) and did not have a reaction.

Turns out I can have EVERY nut besides peanuts!

I just tried cashews, pecans, walnuts, and pistachios for the first time. I honestly wasn’t impressed by the walnuts or pecans and I had a hard time really noticing a major difference in taste between pistachios & almonds, but cashews are definitely my new favorite. I would encourage any adults who have not had allergy testing done since childhood to get it done again! My peanut allergy numbers have also reduced significantly. I know this may not be the case for everyone, but I would’ve never known had I not done testing again. Just wanted to share a hopeful allergy story :-)
