Cooking PSA!!
With the newest update we can now get to lvl 45 cooking. You also unlock a new perk at lvl 45. "loveable cooking". Giving your cooked dished a chance to be a universally loved gift. But, we already have a perk at lvl 15 that gives us a chance to make a cooked dish into a universally liked gift. Another part of this new update also lets you turn off perks. So I set out to find out if its worth turning off the "liked" dishes perk incase they cannibalized rolls from each other or if they have separate rolls and id just be missing out on extra liked dishes.
I wont bore anyone with all the exact numbers and stats but, I threw 100 turnips in my kitchen for sliced turnips with various perks turned off or on. No matter what infusion perks you have turned on, you average about 75 regular dishes and 25 infused dishes. Even scaled up that number should remain about the same. Average of 25% of dishes will be infused shared between any of your perks you have turned on. This does vary, the best outcome I had gave me 33 infused dishes and the worst was 20 infused dishes out of 100.
SO, What can be done with this info. Since infused dish rolls are shared across all active perks, once you hit lvl 45 and unlock the perk for loved dishes, you should turn off the perk for liked dishes. It also means you wont be missing out on any extra infused dishes if you turn off all infused perks but one. If you plan on cooking a large batch of dishes to get alot of infused dishes, try cooking them right at the start of the day, if you get a low percentage of infused dishes, say 22%. You could reload your save and try again for a higher percentage roll like 30%.
Personally I was going to farm A TON of turnips to cook and get loved gifts. But I felt bad not knowing if I would be missing out on other infusions if they where rolled separately. I'm glad this doesn't seem the case and I can freely turn off perk infusions I don't want at the moment and not be missing out.
TLDR: Once you unlock the lvl 45 "loveable Cooking" perk turn off the "Likeable cooking" perk from lvl 15. You don't gain anything by having them both turned on. You can also turn off perks for infusions you don't want and still get the same amount of infused dishes you do want when cooking, roughly 25%.
Edit: some of the comments had other great ideas for turning off certain perks. Ima go ahead and list a few. "Aquatic antiques": will stop you from fishing up artifacts if you've already collected them all "Well placed": if you're hunting for an artifact from a specific area, turning this perk off will stop the chance of a drop of an artifact from an out of place area. Blacksmithing infusions should be toggled on or off depending on what infusion you're aiming for. If you're aiming for Hasty armor, turn off the fortified infusion for armor!
