Struggling to get into an entry level role
The title says it all. I graduated in December of 2020 with my BS in Environmental Science and have been looking for positions since July 2021 and have really been struggling to land an entry level position. I have 2 years of volunteer experience working on environmental education for the American Red Cross and field work (site surveys, flora/fauna identification) with the Navy's environmental division. I know the field is very competitive, at the last interview I had at a small environmental consulting firm they told me they had 250 applicants and only interviewed 15 people, but this job search really has me feeling jaded and just flat out discouraged about entering the field. I really feel like I can't even have goals of working in a specific environmental space (ecology, sustainability, renewable energy etc.) because its so difficult to get into anything. So, how did you land your first job in the environmental field?
