Non-Executive Director - What kind of remuneration?

Hey guys,

I've recently left a position running a consultancy that I grew from 0-2M in revenue over 4 years. I've been approached by someone else in the industry who has a similar business and wants advice from me in all the aspects he isn't great at (Mainly marketing).

He's offered me a non-exec director position where I will dedicate 5-10 hours a month to support them with their strategic direction. He's asked what kind of remuneration I would like, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this?

I think ideally I would like some equity so I can share in the profits, and also when they eventually sell. But I was wondering if it's also normal to ask for some kind of salary as well.
