How do you... like do anything

Like how do you even start, I'd gotten past the four legged guy and gotten to the trade thing or crafting or campfire I don't know, and google just said go there and make something and I saw the thing but how do I actually make it and get the stuff, and like what do I do after

(I haven't played in a while cus I couldn't figure it out so this is a lot of memory work)

(Just after writing ths all out I realized I could just look up a guide on YouTube or game rant or something but I already wrote this out and I'm too stubborn to let this all go to waste haha)
