Role playing?

Hey everyone! Just wanted to ask! My husband is the dm and tbh we are more of a role playing group! We get extremely attached to our characters and we side track a bit and all that! Thing is! For the people that roleplay, how do you even get on the mindset? I get extremely nervous when I try to roleplay and I hate it! I try to get out of my comfort zone cause I love my character and actually wanna try to have a good time role playing, but I just freeze! So just wanted to ask for the more role playing players! What do you do to get on that roleplaying mind set?
