benefit of travel card vs cash back ?

hi yall

I’m late to the game on credit, I’ve had my credit card for like three years (i’m 27) and i currently only have the chase freedom card

i’ve been travelling some , like 6 ish flights a year and my sister suggested a travel card before i book anymore flights (the card she has is through southwest and no longer available?)

i feel like Im missing something , I dont understand how the points must work , because as i see it , the points are just the same as cash back but i can only spend them on a flight / they’re not worth more than the points earned on my cash back card (ie : 25k points on my cash back card has the same buying power and accumulation rate as 25k points on a travel card — only with the travel card that money has to go toward a flight or hotel is that the case ?)
