Do I need to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online to play Palia?

I want to give Palia a try on my switch but before I install it I'd like to know if it's necessary to get a Nintendo Online membership in order to play. Likewise, is a membership required to play Sky Children of Light or any other switch MMO game?
