About switching to BSNL

Hello Makkale! My annoyance with Airtel has reached it's threshold, largely due to the same reasons as this post by u/firekunji. So I am thinking of switching to BSNL. My only expectations are to make and recieve calls, the occasional scroll and to be able to make online payments when necessary.

So, the BSNL users of Chennai, what are your experiences and is it wise for me to port my number over to a BSNL sim?
