my new cat won’t stop giving me “love bites”

Hi! I just adopted my cat a couple days ago and he’s been doing really good so far, he didn’t hide at all when he got home and is super cuddly.

The only thing is that he bites me when i’m trying to sleep. The shelter told me that he gives love bites which I had heard of and read about a little bit. But he only bites me when i’m sleeping? He will sometimes give me a few licks before he bites me but most of the time he’ll just go for anywhere on me that’s no covered by blankets, including my face and the back of my neck. He will even crawl under the blankets and bite my legs. I thought it might be because he has to wear his cone at night bc he just got neutered, but even after I take it off, he’ll continue.

How do I get him to stop bc sometimes he’ll bite too hard and it hurts?
