Can’t jack G20 high enough onto jack stands

I was going to change rear brake pads/rotors, and bought the Harbor Freight 1.5 ton low-profile aluminum race jack and 3 ton Daytona jack stands.

I lifted from the rear differential to the highest capacity of the jack. However, the jack stand (at the lowest setting) still won’t fit under the side jack points. The rated max height for the jack is 13-7/8 in, min height for jack stand is 11-3/8 in (the jack stand adapter probably added 2 inch thickness). Am I doing something wrong here?

The jack already comes with a thin rubber pad. So I didn’t add anything extra.I could add another thicker rubber pad or 2x4 wood block to increase the height, but not sure if that would be enough.

I could lift from the side jack point but won't have a place to put jack stand. I see the tire underneath method often recommended as a safety precaution. Just curious what actually happens when a jack fails. Does the tire only prevent personal injury but the vehicle side will be crushed since it's not supposed to bear weight?

I prefer not to get the 70 lbs heavy steel jacks that have higher lifting range, since I only use jack very rarely.

Any suggestion is appreciated!
