Does anyone here use a duvet cover as a coverlet/quilt—as in not stuffing it with the comforter?

I found a duvet cover I love, the geometric West Elm one in 100% cotton. BUT, I am just terrible at putting the duvet inside the cover. I already have a duvet cover and It always takes me at LEAST 20-30 minutes to put it back on after washing. When I do I usually end up sore, upset, and swearing I’ll never do that again. So does anyone here just use the duvet cover and lie it flat on top of the comforter/duvet as protection? I mean isn’t that basically what a quilt does, but will it look weird without being stuffed? Unfortunately I can’t find the same geometric bedspread from west elm or something even close!
