If Banjo Kazooie Ever Got A New Game How Would You Feel If The Note system was designed to be like a middle ground between kazooie and tooie,

So you would keep the notes you Have collected but upon re-entry of a world notes that you Have already collected respawn as ghost notes (or silent notes i think that’s a music thing)

And now there would be Three note types,

”Bronze Notes” Which There Are 50 of in each level, worth 1 point of your note score

Then there are ”Silver Note Nests” which there are 8 of in each level, but unlike bronze notes they are worth 5 points of note score

And then lastly thery would be 1 ”Golden Treble Clef” Which Would Be Worth 10 points of note score

I think that this could lead to level design where Bronze notes keep there purpose as bread crumbs guiding the player through the level whilst not feeling like there too many of them randomly spread around just for the sake of being there

Whilst silver note nest could be placed at the end of line of bronze notes to signify a puzzle or mission for a jiggy being located in the that area/location

And lastly golden treble clef’s could be placed on Top of a central landmark motivating the player to climb to Top of the level and getting a good bird’s eye view of the level whilst doing so this would also make the need for a random jiggy lying around in the open less common since you could place a treble clef in it’s place

I dunno if any of this makes sense to any you i mean why would i care so Much about something so little as how the notes system would work, if we got a New banjo game. But that’s because these breadcrumb collectables are kinda what makes or breaks these games, because if a singular one of them is Hidden in a place not correlating with it value then it creates frustration(cough’yooka laylee’cough), if there poorly placed so that they lie to you about what you need to do to progress and then expect you to backtrack before getting back to actually making progress (cough’dk64’cough) it creates frustration, and if there simply aren’t enough of them to guide player Through the world it creates frustration (cough’banjo tooie’cough)

The only one the nearly got it right was BK, but then there was those stray 5 notes lying around somwhere in click clock woods and then you gotta backtrack Through the every season to find them!

So in conclusion the lesser collectables system is quite important to get right when making a collectathon because it’s quite literally the backbone of making sure the level design that the player is expected to travel through by developers, actually feels fun and organic to explore by making it so the player has an idea of where to go but that they aren’t being patronized with collectable guiding there every step aswell as having a concrete way of telling where You’re been

Anyway if this didn’t sound too rambly i’d love to here what you all think
