Paladin players,can you help me understand how you enjoy it?

Abilities aside, I don't understand how being bound to certain playstyle and behaviours for fear of losing your class abilities is all that fun? Makes me usually end up ignoring paladin in my options of class for character builds because I just don't want to go "oh nevermind I can't be chaotic and fun because I'll lose my powers... Bummer."

I'd love to understand a different perspective though, thanks in advance for any input and opinions!
