Nikon FE Auto Mode Issue

I recently purchased an FE that seems to be in great condition. The light meter works as expected and photos taken manually using the light meter turn out fine. However, photos taken in Auto are turning out like the attached, with only the top portion of the photo showing anything at all. It doesn't seem to be an exposure issue, so maybe shutter speed is okay. Any ideas?
