Changing Careers - Accountant to Welding
I (33M) have been a WFH Accounts guy for the past 5 years. However, recent increase in costs of living have prompted me to consider welding.
Mate of mine told me to go with their company as a trade assistant, build up exp, get qualified and earn 4x what I’m earning now.
With a 3rd baby on the way, seeking to build a house deposit and keen to be financially independent (not factor in my partner’s income), I’m pondering switching careers.
Am I too old for this? Also coming from a sedentary lifestyle, would I be able to handle the physical labour aspect? I do hit the gym and did machine ops job as my night shift job (tho I stopped this as working 4 days straight with no sleep isn’t exactly mentally friendly).
Thoughts? Is there also opportunities in Adelaide or do I have to go FIFO in regional SA or even interstate?
Thanks!
