Barrel Extension Damage
I finally got around to taking this build out to shoot. I was having FTF issues even with the adjustable gas block, it locks up on the last round, but I found some damage to the receiver from the BCG hitting it. The buffer tube needed to be turned a whole rotation to get the official two quarter gap between the BCG and the lower receiver. As I was looking at everything I noticed some chunks taken off of the barrel extension. I reassembled everything and it’s as smooth as can be, I don’t see or feel any resistance when I slowly push the bolt into the barrel extension and it looks to be clocked correctly.
Before I take this out for part two is there anything else I should check? Would the carrier striking the receiver be violent enough to misalign itself when it tries to go into battery? I think the failure to feed was it actually failing to go into battery.
Parts that matter:
Aero M5 receivers Toolcraft BCG Aero 308 buffer kit Faxon Big Gunner 18” Rifle length barrel Wojtek Adjustable gas block with the wrong length gas tube but it cycles fine. It’s a little short and not to the armralite spec.
Any wisdom is appreciated, I’ve built 5.56 guns but this is my first large frame.
