I was re-reading Specky Magee and noticed something interesting
There was a discussion about a year ago on here related to Specky Magee, and they mentioned Gosmore Grammar.
Now, obviously it doesn't exist in real life, but many references in the book make me think Gosmore Grammar was based on Assumption College.
They make constant reference to ex-Assumption College players using goofy names, such as Billy Blackless for Billy Brownless, Byron O'Donnell for Simon O'Donnell, Wayne Crawfort for Shane Crawford and Neil Baneher for Neale Danaher.
It's far enough in the country that it makes sense for someone from Camberwell, like Specky is, to actually board there, however I know multiple boarders and I don't know anyone who has actually boarded from central Melbourne.
Just food for thought.
N.B. I also think I've worked out a lot of the other 'play' on words that come up during the book series, if anyone wants them, just let me know.
