Does everyone use glue stick?

I have still been having intermittent problems with my bed adhesion. I have performed manual bed leveling and auto bed calibrations. I am using the original glass bed, but find that if i don't add glue stick then it doesn't stick well. I have followed multiple leveling videos and i just cant seem to get it roght so it sticks. If I use the textured magnetic plate I have to use a bit of hairspray but even then, it only works sometimes.. if there is some generic advice it would be very much appreciated. As long as it sticks, the machine works really well for me.
