Quantico hicap after 2000 rounds
I ordered this acw quantico hicap in the beginning of May this year and recieved it the end of October which i thought was a pretty good turnaround on a semi custom gun. In about a month I put 2k rounds through it consisting of 1k pmc bronze 115 and 1k blazer brass 124. I used the supplied acw mags and staccato branded mags (they are identical).
The tolerances seemed very tight from day one. Even the optics mount was so tightly machined I had to "convince" my rmr to seat properly. The new grip module is also fantastic with appropriately agressive texture on the front and rear.
Throughout the 2000 rounds, I cleaned the pistol at 1k rounds and 2000 rounds. I oiled the pistol before every range trip by puling the slide back putting some oil on the rails (lucas gun oil) and running the slide vigorously. The gun was oiled at 0, 300, 1000, 1250 and 1800 rounds.
I noticed no real "break in period". The pistol only malfunctioned once around the 800 round mark and it was a failure to feed. I'm not sure why it happened but after clearing the malfunction it was business as usual and there were no other issues for the remainder of the 2000 rounds.
This pistol has been incredibly fast and accurate although all I have to compare it to is a few staccatos and some 9mm 1911s. I have been able to get .10 splits and make 100 yard shots with this gun with regularity which is impressive enough for me.
The fit and finish when new was incredible and even after 2000 rounds the slide is amazingly smooth and just as tight as it was on day one, with zero play in any direction. Everything that moves on this gun is well fit and doesn't move in directions it's not supposed to. That is, except for the ambi safety. The right side saftey has developed some wiggle and that is super annoying. It doesn't impact the function of the pistol but at the price these cone in at, it shouldn't be happening. I noticed the saftey was loose within the first 500 rounds and hasn't gotten any worse.
The pistol has worn very well and seems to be durable. There are a few wear patterns to note. There are some chatter marks on the front of the frame from the slide. I'm not sure why they are there or what is causing them but you can feel them when you run the slide slowly from the front serrations. They seemed to have smoothed out some but are still present. There are also some scratches on the side of the ejector. Not sure what those are about but it doesn't seem like an issue.
The bead blasted blueing on the pistol has worn appropriately as Acw warns you it will. I don't mind that at all and I think it looks good but if that is an issue for you dlc is available. I have run the gun in a RDR Gear modified safariland which has also been perfect.
Overall I think the Acw Quantico Hicap is a great 2011 option and, in my opinion, the best looking 2011 on the market. I'm sure i forgot some stuff so feel free to ask questions.
On the pictures, left is 1000 rounds, right is 2000 rounds.
TLDR; gun is mostly perfect.
